Packing for a beach vacation

What to Pack for Panama City Beach Spring Break (The List That Isn’t Obvious)

You know to bring a swimsuit. This is the rest of the list — what people forget, what they bring for nothing, and a few things that make Week 3 noticeably better.

The things people forget

  • Your real, unexpired ID. Not a photo of it. A physical driver’s license or passport. You will need it every single night.
  • A second pair of shoes that can get wet. Foam parties, paint parties, and the beach will destroy one pair by Wednesday.
  • A phone battery pack. Your ticket is on your phone. Your rideshare is on your phone. A dead phone at 2 a.m. is a genuine problem.
  • Reef-safe sunscreen and aloe. Day 2 sunburn is the most common way to lose a day of spring break.
  • A refillable water bottle. Hydration is the difference between a good week and a rough one.
  • A light hoodie. Early March nights on the Gulf drop into the 50s. See the weather post.
  • Cash in small bills. Tips, beach chairs, the occasional cash-only cover.
  • A copy of your lodging confirmation and the property’s rules. Especially the guest limit and quiet hours.

Things to wear that make the theme nights better

  • White for the glow/white party nights (there’s always one).
  • Clothes you don’t care about for paint and foam nights.
  • Green if you’re there for St. Patty’s week.
  • Beads for Pardi Gras nights — or just collect them there.

We post a “what to wear” guide for each theme night as the lineup confirms; check the week pages.

Things people bring and never use

  • A cooler for the beach. Alcohol isn’t allowed on the sand in March, and you’re not carrying a cooler to the club.
  • Glass anything. Banned on the beach year-round.
  • A full-size speaker. Quiet hours are real and property managers evict.
  • Nice clothes. Nobody’s checking.

The shared-condo kit

One person brings: paper towels, trash bags, a first-aid kit, a couple of phone chargers to leave in the kitchen, and a Bluetooth speaker sized for a living room. Split the cost, thank them all week.
