PCB Spring Break Budget: What a Week Really Costs

Everyone’s spring break budget is different, but the categories are the same and the surprises are predictable. Here’s how a PCB week breaks down and where the real savings are.

The categories

1. Lodging — the biggest line

Your share of a weekly condo depends almost entirely on three things: which week, how close to the club district, and how many people you split it with. The per-person number drops fast between four and eight people, then flattens. Book early for the best ratio of location to price, and read when to book.

Watch for: cleaning fees, security deposits, resort fees, parking fees, and the guest-limit clause. These are where “cheap” listings stop being cheap.

2. Getting there

Driving with a full car is the cheapest option for almost everyone in the Southeast. Gas plus one night of snacks. Flying into ECP is convenient but adds airport transfers and usually a rental car. Flying vs driving, compared.

3. Nightlife

A weekly PCB Club Card replaces individual covers and includes selected free drinks. If you’re going out more than a couple of nights, it’s the cheaper path, and booking lodging through us takes another 10% off. Budget separately for drinks beyond what’s included and for late-night food.

4. Food

The single most controllable category. A grocery run on day one (breakfast, snacks, water) and cooking two or three dinners in the condo cuts food spend roughly in half. Cheap eats in PCB covers the rest.

5. Activities

One or two paid activities — a boat trip, jet skis, parasailing — is the sweet spot. Prices vary by operator and season; book ahead for the best rates and to guarantee a slot in peak week.

6. The surprises

• Rideshares at 2 a.m. in Week 3 — surge pricing is real.
• Beach chair and umbrella rentals.
• Replacing things: sunglasses, a phone charger, the shoes that didn’t survive the foam party.
• A lost security deposit if the condo rules get broken.

Where the savings are

1. Fill the car and fill the condo. Per-person cost is all about headcount.
2. Book lodging in the fall and get the party card discount with it.
3. Buy the weekly card instead of nightly tickets if you’re going out 3+ nights.
4. Grocery run on day one.
5. Walk when you can. The club district is compact.

Where not to save

Lodging that doesn’t allow your group size or ages, and anything involving a fake ID. Both cost more than they save, every time.
