Panama City Beach uses colored flags to tell you whether the Gulf is safe. Here's what each one means and why double red isn't a suggestion.

Choosing Your Spring Break Crew: The Group That Makes or Breaks the Week
Every spring break story that ends badly starts with a group that was assembled instead of chosen. Here’s how to choose.
Size
Six to ten. Fewer and the condo math gets expensive; more and the condo doesn’t exist. The lodging math.
The roles you need
- The booker. Organized, has the credit limit, will be there at check-in.
- The treasurer. Runs the ledger, chases deposits, isn’t afraid of the friend who “forgot.”
- The planner. Reads the week page, posts the day plan by 11.
- The early riser. Makes coffee, gets the group to the boat.
- The one who stays in. Every group needs someone who’s fine skipping a night. They’re the reason there’s a Friday.
The roles you don’t
- The person who doesn’t pay deposits on time.
- The person who “knows a guy” for IDs. No.
- The person who climbs railings.
- The person who invites four extra people to a condo that sleeps eight.
The conversation to have in September
Budget, week, and how many nights people actually want to go out. A group where half want Week 3 all-in and half want beach-and-boats is two groups. Better to find out now. Group chat rules and the checklist take it from here.
