Jet Ski and Parasailing in PCB: How Booking Works and What to Know

Two activities sell out first every spring break: jet skis and parasailing. Here’s how they actually work in Panama City Beach so you book the right thing at the right time.

Jet skis

Where: rental operators along the beach and at the Grand Lagoon marinas. Beach rentals ride the Gulf; marina rentals run the bay and offer guided trips out to Shell Island.

How long: half-hour and hour rentals are standard; guided island trips run longer.

Rules: Florida requires a boater safety card for operators born after a cutoff date — most rental operators handle a temporary certificate on-site, but ask when you book. Minimum age to operate is typically 18 with ID; passengers can be younger. Deposits and damage waivers are normal.

Weather: wind and chop shut down Gulf-side rentals. The bay side runs on more days.

Parasailing

Where: boats launch from the beach along the main stretch and from the marinas.

What you get: a boat ride out, ten or so minutes in the air, the whole coastline underneath you. Tandem and triple flights are common, so your group goes up together.

Rules: weight limits per flight, and operators won’t fly in wind above their threshold. Book early in your week so a cancelled day can be rebooked.

When to book

Peak-week mornings go first. For both activities:

2. Pick the first good-weather day of your week (weather guide).
3. Morning slots: calmer water, fewer cancellations, and you’re done before the day party.

Under 21

What to bring

Sunscreen, a strap for your sunglasses, a dry bag for your phone, and a printed or screenshotted confirmation. Don’t drink first — operators will refuse you and keep the deposit.
