Cell Service, Wi-Fi, and Charging on Front Beach Road

Your ticket is on your phone. Your ride home is on your phone. Your group is on your phone. Here’s the boring, essential guide to keeping it alive for seven days in Panama City Beach.

Cell service

Coverage on the beach is good on the major carriers. What isn’t good is capacity: in Week 3, when tens of thousands of people are in the same mile trying to post the same foam party, data slows down at peak hours. Texts go through; video uploads wait.

Fixes: download offline maps of PCB before you arrive; screenshot your tickets and your condo address; agree a meeting point that doesn’t depend on a message getting through.

Wi-Fi

Your condo has it. Confirm the password at check-in and put it in the group chat. Venue Wi-Fi is not something to plan around.

Charging

• Battery pack. The single most useful thing on the packing list. One per person, charged every day.
• Condo charging station. Two multi-port chargers left in the kitchen, all week. The group that does this never has a dead phone.
• The car. If you drove, it’s a charger.
• Portable cases and dry bags. Foam and paint nights kill phones. A waterproof pouch is cheap; a new phone isn’t.

The 2 a.m. rule

Nobody leaves the condo for the night under 50%. It sounds like a parent rule; it’s the rule that gets everyone home. Safety post.

Backups

Print your party card confirmation, or at least save it as an image. Write the condo address on a card in your wallet. Know one friend’s number by heart. Old-school, and it’s saved more nights than any app.
